Congratulations to the following MICDS student-athletes who were included in STLToday.com’s list of «Athletes to Watch» this spring. Good luck to all of our Rams this season!
Max Bernstein ’15 – Water Polo
Bernstein was a first-team All-Gateway North conference player last year after notching 34 goals and 91 points for the Rams, who finished third. Likely will be counted on to produce more goals this season after the graduation of All-Metro Player of the Year Tommy Stupp ’14.
Ellis Chalfant ’15 – Lacrosse
The All-Metro player of the year in 2013, Chalfant was a staple of the Rams’ state championship squad in 2014. In the title game, she played 50 minutes and made 11 saves. In the Rams’ two area games this season, Chalfant has only allowed two goals, recorded a rare shutout, and has made eight saves.
Drew Lilly ’16 – Golf
A returning All-Metro first-teamer, Lilly carded the best local score at the Class 3 tournament at Fremont Hills with a consistent 75-75—150 to place fourth.
Joe McAllister ’16 – Tennis
McAllister shared the No. 1 singles spot with Tyler Raclin for the Class 1 state champion Rams last season. He has won seven of his 10 state matches in Class 1 singles the last two seasons with his only losses coming against state champions (twice to Mac Rechan of Clayton and once to Michael Peters of John Burroughs). McAllister has two state medals, reaching the consolation championship both years. He won the consolation championship as a freshman and lost last year to Rechan.
Michael O’Keefe ’16 – Golf
O’Keefe placed sixth in district and tied for eighth at sectionals before he tied for 12th at the Class 3 state tournament with a two-round score of 157. O’Keefe was a member of the All-Metro third team last season.
Tyler Raclin ’16 –Tennis
Raclin shared the No. 1 singles spot on the Class 1 team champion Rams with Joe McAllister and also excelled for the second year in a row at the individual state tournament. Raclin teamed with his brother, Geoffrey, to finish third in Class 1 doubles in 2013. He went the singles route at state last year and got to the championship match (losing just two games in his three matches) before falling to Michael Peters in the championship.
