Did you see some familiar faces of MICDS Upper School students on KMOV Channel 4 news this week? Students in the Autotroph Biological Design course in the Upper School Plant Science Strand shared their MARSfarm projects on the KMOV «News 4 Schools» segment Wednesday evening.
Here is the KMOV link.
In case you missed it, below is the story on this project from December.
Since then, the MARSfarm project has moved into the STEM office on the second floor of Brauer Hall as a scientific installation with educational activities and information. Students are now in their second iteration of testing based on the research question: Does the alteration of the photoperiod negatively influence the circadian rhythm of Bok Choy Cabbage and result in reduced biomass accumulation?
Next time you are in STEM, check it out to see the bok choy growing in Mars-like conditions. Students have also had fun «decorating» the installation, as you can see below.
