11 Rams Qualify for State at FBLA Districts

At last week’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) District competition, our MICDS club team had 11 members qualify for the state competition. Districts included the competition between all of the St. Louis area FBLA chapters. Students were either recognized for tests they had previously completed related to their interest area in business, or they presented on a topic of their choice the day of the competition. These students will now go on to compete at the State Leadership Conference against other Missouri districts on April 13-15.

FBLA is a Career and Technical Student Organization that helps to prepare students who are interested in pursuing careers in business. Missouri has the second-largest state chapter in the country.

Outstanding, Rams!

Faculty Feature: Carolyn Hood Appears on The Drew Barrymore Show, Surprising Alum Sterling K. Brown

Through a very heartfelt video, Carolyn Hood, Upper School Performing Arts Teacher, made a surprise appearance to alum Sterling K. Brown ’94 on The Drew Barrymore Show, which aired on February 4. With Barrymore, Brown talked about his time at (then) St. Louis Country Day School and reminisced about how he got involved from athletics to theater, crediting his teachers along the way. At that point, Drew Barrymore surprised Brown with a video message from Ms. Hood that made Brown tear up.

Watch this very special segment below! What an impact you’ve made on your current and previous students, Ms. Hood!

This appearance was also recapped on Fox 2 here. Go Rams!

Faculty Feature: Patrick Huber Participates in Panel Talkback for "Pictures from a Revolution"

Patrick Huber, Upper School Fine & Performing Arts Teacher, was part of a panel that held a talkback after the Saturday matinee of Pictures from a Revolution at Upstream Theater last weekend. Patrick, pictured on the left in the photo below, was the Set Designer for the show. He shared, « We had a great conversation about the play, which incorporated works from art history by famous painters, such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Magritte, and Van Gogh, into an abandoned soccer stadium. This added a surreal element to an absurdist play by the Italian playwright, Tino Casparello. This production was the world premiere of a translation by Haun Saussy. »
