On September 20th, the 7th and 8th grade went to the Repertory Theatre of St. Louis to see the play, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime, about a young man who views the world differently.
When students returned to school, they watched a presentation on ableism and then the students participated in activities that helped them understand what it feels like to have different abilities. For example, they toured the school as if they were in wheelchairs so they could understand accessibility. They participated in a relay race where they could only use one arm and shoot a basketball without using their vision.
It was an informative day for all.
