Audrey Taves ’28 Celebrates with Remarks for Class of 2028
At the Class of 2028 Celebration, Audrey Taves ’28 shared her thoughts on this last year of Middle School for the eighth graders. Here are her remarks.
Welcome to the celebration for the Class of 2028! My name is Audrey Taves.
Community. It’s a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. Could it be a word to describe our class?
I joined this school two years ago, just like many of you. Like most of you, I feared that I would not fit in and find few commonalities between the people in my class. However, I soon found out that this community has a strong feeling of fellowship. At our school, you can be friends with anyone and everyone. There will always be at least one person to stop you in the halls and say hello. Over the many months of being at school, we all have grown. We started out being awkward with what felt like a barrier between us. After the many activities and different classes, there is no longer a barrier between boys and girls or between friend groups.
These past two years have been a time where we have grown as a community. As new people joined our class, I knew that we would be accepting. They were able to join the class and grow with us, adding to the foundation we have already built.
In Upper School, it is important to think of ourselves as a community. Upper School is going to be a new place with different challenges and experiences. When you have others who are going through the same thing, it allows you to feel supported in times of need. We are all here and have become a team. It is time to work together against the struggles to come. Life is going to become challenging, and this is where our sense of community will be put to the test. Looking to the future, we need to stay strong and keep growing together. As we get put in different classes and advisories, once again, we will form new bonds and become stronger as a grade as the years go on. I want to thank MICDS for including me in this community and giving me the opportunity to contribute to it. I look forward to the next four years as we create the Class of 2028 together.
