Admission Process

Submit the Online Application and Application Fee
Application due: 1/14/25
- Complete the Standard Application Online (SAO).
- Once the Student Profile is complete, submit the application and pay the $50 non-refundable application fee. Fee waivers are available upon request.

Shadow Visit and Parent Tour
A student shadow visit and parent tour are encouraged but not required.

Family Interview
Once the Student Profile, Parent Statement, and Student Essays are complete, you may schedule your family interview. The family interview includes the student applicant and at least one parent/guardian.

Admission Testing
- The application process includes admission testing. We accept either the SSAT (Secondary School Admission Test) or the ISEE (Independent School Entrance Exam) and have no preference as to which test is taken, or where/how a test is taken.
- Both SSAT and ISEE offer in-person and virtual testing options.
- MICDS is offering in-person SSAT testing as follows.
- Saturday, December 7, 2024 for 6th – 12th grade applicants.
- MICDS is offering in-person ISEE testing as follows.
- Saturday, January 25, 2025 for 5th & 6th grade applicants. A special code is required to register, so please contact the admission office prior to registering.
- Fee waivers for either test may be available to families applying for tuition assistance.
Test results must be received by February 12, 2025.

Recommendations & School Records
- Teacher Recommendation – The required teacher recommendation must be from a current core subject teacher using the form on the Standard Application Online (SAO).
- Personal Recommendation – As an option, you may ask someone to submit a recommendation on behalf of your child such as an athletic coach, music teacher, religion teacher, tutor, or a previous teacher.
- School Records – An official transcript and school records including any standardized testing results for the current school year plus the previous two school years are required.
- International Students – International applicants should include a graded writing sample from this academic year and a recent TOEFL Junior Test score, which should be sent to MICDS from ETS. Our TOEFL Junior Test school code is B730.

Tuition Assistance
Separate application due: 1/31/25
Applying for tuition assistance is optional. The deadline for prospective students to complete the separate tuition assistance application is January 31, 2025 for 5th through 8th-grade applicants. This is a separate application completed through Clarity, our tuition assistance platform.
