A challenging day for the girls as they teed it up vs. St. Joseph’s Academy at the Missouri Bluffs. Sophomore Elena Thomas, in her first match in competetive golf was the Rams medalist of the day with a 52 and finishing strong with a par on #9. Great start Elena! Junior Taylor Turnell was right behind with a 54. I was lucky enough to see Taylor hit a “fried egg” lie out of the sand on #7 and almost holed it out! One of the better shots I have seen as a golf coach. We had a rare tie for the 3rd spot with Junior Captain Maddy Goldberg and Sophomore Erin Halligan, also playing in her debut shooting 58. The Bluffs tested us today and is a challenging course. It can be very easy to put up a big number on any given hole. The take away is, we saw players put up a big number but then come back to shoot a par or a bogey on the next hole. That’s a big deal and something for us to take away! Great mental toughness today ladies. Next up John Burroughs at St. Louis Country Club on August 28th. You know what that means, bad news for Burroughs!
Go Rams!
