On a dreadfully gloomy and rainy day, MICDS ghosts and goblins dressed up in their most spirited garb for a spooktacular, boo-tiful, wooo-nderful, and fang-tastic Halloween! With scares, laughs, and yummy treats, our Rams didn’t miss a beat.
Lower School
After last weekend’s Lower School Trunk-or-Treat event sponsored by the Parents Association, students were ready for a Halloween to remember. JK through fourth-grade students boogied and crooned their way through the annual Halloween assembly performance led by our talented Lower School Music Teacher Dr. Katy Nichols. The show featured haunting Halloween tunes and drum performances in dark mode. After the assembly, Lower Schoolers paraded through Olson Hall, receiving non-candy treats from our friendly faculty, staff, and Upper School classrooms.
Check out a video of the parade and oodles of photos below!
Middle School
The MICDS Middle School hallways buzzed with Halloween excitement! Students donned creative costumes, as did the entire faculty and staff. With pumpkin carving, mummy wrapping, and fifth-grade merriment in the cafeteria, Halloween spirit teemed throughout the Middle School campus.
Our Middle School Librarian Bethany Kavanaugh held the 2nd annual Two Sentence Horror Story Writing Competition. Congratulations to the winners who garnered a three-way tie!

Middle School faculty had some fun of their own with a Ghastly Ghostie contest. Students had to use their best deductive skills to guess the identity of our faculty dressed as ghosts. Test your skills and see if you can guess them all!
The Middle School Library also hosted a Spooky Story read-aloud for sixth-eighth graders, where teachers and other special guests (Hint: Mr. Rainey) served as readers of these eerie tales.
Upper School
With Acting II Halloween movie parodies playing in Orthwein Theatre, faculty in departmental costumes, and «My Biggest Fear» t-shirts, the Upper School was a hub of Halloween fun! Students in all grades dug out their best costumes, creating a campus filled with imaginative individual and group ensembles. The day’s highlight was the annual Upper School Halloween Assembly, where seniors performed hilarious skits and played a rousing game of Tic-Tac-Toe Relay.
As the witching hour fades, may the magic of this Halloween linger. Happy Haunting!
