First Graders rocked the Beasley First Grade Book Swap during their 4th annual event. This year, the students set a goal to gather 1,100 books to donate to Cool Valley Elementary in the Ferguson-Florissant School District. Not only did they meet their goal. They shattered it—collecting 1,486 books!
On Wednesday, the 1st Graders invited the Junior Kindergarten classes to come peruse and read some of the books from the swap. And on Thursday morning, teachers from Cool Valley visited the 1st graders to collect the books and thank the students for their invaluable contribution to their classrooms.
One student said, «By collecting all these books, we are helping other kids learn to read and to love books as much as we do.» Another added, «This book swap allowed us to reduce, reuse, and recycle. A small thing can make a big difference.»
How will next year’s 1st Graders do during the 5th annual Book Swap? This year’s numbers will be difficult to beat.
