Jammies: CHECK! Hard work all semester: CHECK! Almost halfway through senior year: CHECK! It sounds like Senior Chill Day is in order!
On Monday, December 4, the students from the Class of 2024 gathered in the Steward Family Aquatic Center Lobby throughout the day to partake in Senior Chill Day. This special day gives MICDS seniors the chance to relax after a busy fall filled with college applications and a rigorous course load. It also allows our senior Rams time to pause and have fun together before final exams begin.
Besides wearing matching MICDS pajama pants provided by the Parents Association, students were treated to a delicious breakfast and lunch as well as scrumptious snacks and games thanks to the many parent volunteers who helped coordinate this event. What a wonderful way to connect with classmates over food and fun while time seems to be flying in such a busy final Upper School year.
In addition to our seniors, Head of School Jay Rainey and his wife Ruth also sported the MICDS Class of 2024 pajama pants for the occasion, bringing their dog Nelson along for the fun. It was a sea of MICDS plaid pajamas all day!
Nicole Trueman-Shaw, Dean of the Class of 2024 and Director of Upper School Student Leadership, reflected on the momentous day: «The seniors had a great day on Monday,» she said. «They’ve been looking forward to this since the beginning of the school year because it marks the halfway point of their senior year. So while there were a lot of smiles and laughs, there were a few bittersweet tears and hugs as the realization hit them that their time together as a class is drawing to a close in the not-too-distant future. Now, if I could just keep them all from coming down with a serious case of Senioritis between now and then, we’d be all set!»
