Upper School History Teacher Changa Bey presented at an Upper School assembly as part of the regular series “Why I Teach.”
He shared about his experience moving to New York and then to St. Louis, two places he had never lived before, and his experiences of radical hospitality from people who’s perspectives and backgrounds were completely different from his. Ultimately, his experience meeting those who “paid it forward” inspired him to become a teacher so he could be that person for someone else.
“As I think about why I teach here, it’s because of this very intentional community that constantly pushes us to be better people by challenging our pre-conceived notions and perceptions,” he said.
