Spanish 400 visited Cherokee Street this week as part of their “daily life” unit. They explored the neighborhood and engaged in conversation with shop and other business owners in Spanish all while experiencing the day-to-day life of folks who live and work along Cherokee Street.
Mr. Barker, Upper School Spanish Teacher, shared, “Students learned about the history of the community and gained first-hand experience about some of the initiatives that are taking place to build this majority Latino business district in the city.”
A presentation by Randy Vines, one of the owners of the STL Style shop, was a key part of learning about the street’s history. Randy’s business is located on the street and he is a great advocate for the area.
