Spanish 400 visited Cherokee Street this week as part of their « daily life » unit. They explored the neighborhood and engaged in conversation with shop and other business owners in Spanish all while experiencing the day-to-day life of folks who live and work along Cherokee Street.
Mr. Barker, Upper School Spanish Teacher, shared, « Students learned about the history of the community and gained first-hand experience about some of the initiatives that are taking place to build this majority Latino business district in the city. »
A presentation by Randy Vines, one of the owners of the STL Style shop, was a key part of learning about the street’s history. Randy’s business is located on the street and he is a great advocate for the area.
