Lower School students learned about a very important celebration in Hispanic countries this week called “El Día de los Muertos” (The Day of the Dead). The Day of the Dead is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd and is celebrated to remember loved ones who have passed away.
Lower Schoolers created decorations for an ofrenda (altar), which was set up at the end of lower Schoenberg Hallway to remember Frida Kahlo. The altar was up prior to the celebration and remained up throughout the week for visitors.
Day of the Dead is a colorful celebration that includes a variety of food, music and art. The most important aspect of the celebration is time spent with family and friends who gather together to remember and honor the ones who have died.
