On October 15, MICDS’ entrepreneur-extraordinaire Ehan Kamat ’18 appeared on ABC’s Shark Tank, a reality show that features entrepreneurs making pitches to notable venture capitalists, including investors such as Mark Cuban, Barbara Corcoran, Daymond John, Lori Greiner, Robert Herjavec and Kevin O’Leary. The episode on October 15 also included guest shark and former Major League Baseball player Alex Rodriguez.
To celebrate Ehan’s appearance, MICDS hosted a viewing party in Brauer Auditorium, followed by a Q&A session with Ehan himself.
A lifelong idea guy, Ehan invented the Solemender at the age of twelve. After watching his mother roll a frozen toy on her foot to alleviate foot pain, he learned that the medical community often recommends freezing a water bottle and rolling the sole of the foot on it to treat foot pain conditions such as plantar fasciitis. Ehan thought a refreezable roller with a nonskid base would be a more effective, less messy alternative than a frozen water bottle.
“I am grateful I had the opportunity to appear on Shark Tank. It gave me the chance to share my invention, Solemender, in front of a national audience and gain real-life experience pitching to investors,” said Ehan.
