Dear MICDS Community,
On behalf of our entire faculty and staff, I write to wish you and your loved ones much happiness in this holiday season, and much hope in the year to come. Last week, I surveyed our students, faculty, and staff with a question: “In this season of reflection and thanksgiving, when you look back on the school year so far, is there one thing in particular—an experience, a teacher, a friend, an opportunity, a moment—for which you are especially grateful?”
Responses numbered in the hundreds, but one in particular, from a boy in seventh grade, captured the essence of them all. “I am extremely thankful just to have the chance to be at this school,” he wrote. “The teachers, kids, and the whole community in general are fantastic. MICDS is so fun and such a great place to be!” Ours is a wonderful school at this most wonderful time of the year.
In celebration of this season of joy, we are sharing a variety of performances courtesy of our talented arts students below.
White Christmas from this week’s Winter Masterworks concert:
High Hopes from our Middle and Upper School Band concert:
Theme from Game of Thrones from our Lower, Middle, and Upper School Strings and Orchestra concert:
Videos of the full concerts and the Beasley Winter Program will be available after the holidays.
Always reason, always compassion, always courage. Happy holidays to you and your loved ones.
Jay Rainey and the entire MICDS Faculty and Staff
