The MICDS Girls Track Team won its second meet of the season, the Henle Holmes Invitational, scoring 122 points to win handily in a field of 16 schools. Webster Groves was a distant second with 94 points.
Cara Johnson, a freshman, had a big meet, winning the 100-meter dash in a spectacular 12.47. She also raced for the winning 4×100 relay team, placed second in the 200-meter dash and raced on the second-place 4×200 relay team.
Caitlyn Peters, a senior, also had a big day. She won the 400-meter dash in 59.75, while contributing to second-place finishes in the 800-meter sprint relay and the 4×400.
Junior Alexa Smith took first place in the pole vault.
Recently named the #1 Freshman Standout in Track & Field in Missouri by MoMileSplit, Zionn Pearson took first in the 100-meter hurdles and long jump, while joining Johnson on the winning 4×100 relay team. Zionn’s 100-meter time of 14.83 is the 4th-fastest time in the state in 2015, her 17-7 long jump is 10th in the state, and the 4×100 time is the 9th-fastest in the state.
The MICDS boys finished 11th. Junior Charlie Gillis placed third in the pole vault, and the 4×200 relay team of Noble Tobias, Keiondre Jordan, Christian Matava and Will Jacobs placed second in 1:32.47. Jacobs also anchored the third-place 4×800, joining Tilman Bartelsmeyer, Tommy Ristevski and Charlie Biggs with a time of 8:36.06.
