Grandparents and Special Friends Visit Beasley

Last week, Lower Schoolers had the chance to share their love for learning across the generations during Grandparents and Special Friends Day. During the event, students showed their family and friends around their classrooms, where they engaged in special and interactive activities. Another highlight of the day for many were the special musical performances.

Junior Kindergarten and Senior Kindergarten students shared a performance based on a visit to the zoo. Students sang “We’re Going To The Zoo,” which was followed by a variety of pieces about the different animals they might see there, including monkeys, penguins, an elephant from India and some ducks on the pond. Each class was featured in a dance or dramatization that corresponded to a musical piece.

First and 2nd Grade students shared a program of traditional American folk music, including familiar tunes such as “Shoo Fly” and “Going Down To Cairo.” Each class performed a folk dance to the sung pieces. What’s more—it was great fun to have Evan Ragland ’29 and Abby Selner ’28 accompany the singing on the violin. The program ended with a rousing rendition of “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round The Mountain.”

The Beasley Chorus also shared their Spring Program.

What a fun way to celebrate the ways in which our MICDS family extends beyond the classroom and spans across the generations!
