In January, our International Breakfast for Lunch program explored one of the oldest known countries in the world: Egypt. Students were excited to try a wide variety of new foods on our Mezze Tasting plate (pictured below). Breakfast in Egypt is typically served around mid-morning with a variety of many small dishes. The staple of the Egyptian breakfast is Ful Medames, pronounced as « fool » and it means mashed Fava beans. Breakfast is frequently a mix of vegetarian and savory dishes of beans, vegetables, boiled eggs, and olives, scooped with pita bread.
We encourage everyone who dines with us to try our international spreads, and to go to our school dining site to learn more about our programs.
