This Valentine’s Day, the entire Beasley community gathered in the McDonnell Athletic Center for the annual Kids’ Heart Challenge (formerly known as Jump Rope for Heart). This annual community service project for the American Heart Association is held in conjunction with a PE unit on heart health. This year, the Beasley school community has raised $13,000 thus far, and donations are still coming in with the deadline on Friday, February 22.
During the event, the students were active for over an hour, and teachers and parents joined in the fun, too! Students climbed over barriers and pulled ropes in the ninja warrior obstacle course. They hula-hooped and jumped rope with their friends. Students practiced their basketball dribbling and shooting and went for a jog or a walk around the track. They also danced their “heart” out with Go Noodle dance activities. Students look forward to this fun and active tradition every year, and they learn about the importance of heart health and the American Heart Association.
