Every year in May, the Upper School holds a special assembly to commemorate Memorial Day. This tradition dates back to Saint Louis Country Day School and honors the memory of those alumni and faculty who lost their lives in service to our nation.
This year’s Memorial Day assembly was presented virtually and included the Upper School chorus sharing beautiful renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner and America the Beautiful, remarks from Head of School Jay Rainey, and the reading of the names of the fallen by rising Student Council Co-Heads Peyton LaMartina ’22 and Jackson Strelo ’22.
Mr. Rainey said, « Every day, and on this day in particular, we give thanks to the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice. The video tribute below was created to help us remember the gifts these heroes continue to give through their sacrifice—what Abraham Lincoln so eloquently called ‘the last full measure of devotion.’ May we remain ever grateful for them. »
