Over 6,000 guests from across the country attended the inauguration of Missouri’s 56th Governor, Eric Greitens, on Monday, January 9, 2017 in Jefferson City. Among them were eleven MICDS students – Ross Danforth ’19, Alexander Feldman ’18, Katie Flemming ’19, Layth Hamed ’19, Sam Hanser ’19, Jonas Hart ’19, Daniel Hochberg ’19, Cassidy Spencer ’19, Ryan Turkin ’17, Harry Wellford ’17, and Rose Williams ’17. Several students were selected and invited on behalf of Governor Greiten’s Inauguration Committee. The 10th grade students (Katie Flemming, Sam Hanser, Layth Hamed, Cassidy Spencer, Ross Danforth and Jonas Hart) were in charge of welcoming and escorting celebrity and VIP guests to the event. In addition, they helped manage 80 other high school students from across the state who assisted in organizing and seating the thousands of participants and guests. Besides having up front seats to the ceremony, the students were personally invited to attend lunch inside the Capitol, a private dinner with one of our senators and the Inaugural Ball.
“On behalf of the Governor’s Administration, we want to thank the students from MICDS for volunteering at the Inauguration. They displayed confidence and kindness as they assisted in the set-up operations and guest services for our new Governor. These students were inspirational to our team and those who attended our festivities.” Grassroots Director. Greitens Inaugural Committee, R. Brauch
