The Middle School community gathered on May 20 to celebrate another successful year of academic and athletic achievements, service and leadership. Faculty presented awards in a number of categories. Congratulations to the honorees.

The Stanford Award
The Stanford Award, established in 1993, is presented by the Stanford Club of St. Louis to the girl in the Middle School chosen by the 7th and 8th grade students and reviewed by the faculty for excellence in: scholarship, school citizenship and contribution to athletics. The recipients will have their names inscribed on the Stanford Honor Plaque.

The Amherst Award
The Amherst Award is presented by the Amherst Club of St. Louis to the boy in the Middle School chosen by the 7th and 8th grade students and reviewed by the faculty for excellence in: scholarship, school citizenship and contribution to athletics. The recipient will have his name inscribed on the Amherst Honor Plaque.

The Jan deGreeff Jacobi Award
The Jan deGreeff Jacobi Award is given in honor of long-standing MICDS teacher and administrator, Jan Jacobi. This award is presented annually to 7th grade girls and boys who show compassion, look for the good in others, and adhere to the Middle School Honor Code.

The James Schenler Wood Award
The James Schenler Wood Award is the highest academic award given to eighth grade students. Rather than awarding them with several individual academic awards, the Wood Award is given to the eighth grade students who, in the estimation of their teachers, have demonstrated outstanding scholarship in every single subject area. These students have also distinguished themselves as positive citizens of the school community, able leaders, and caring members of their class.

The Eliot Award
The Eliot Award was established in 1993 in memory of William Greenleaf Eliot, the founder of our school. It is given to one girl and one boy in each grade who showcase excellent school citizenship and who provide the greatest positive contribution to their class. The winners of these awards are elected by a vote of their classmates and teachers. This award is one of the highest honors a student can receive in middle school.
