Middle school students competed in the National Geographic Bee on Thursday, an annual competion organized by the National Geographic Society. Thousands of students across the United States participate, and this year at MICDS it came down to two seventh graders.
The final question was “What country, located on a peninsula in the Persian Gulf and once dependent on pearl diving, now has one of the region’s highest per capita incomes?” Jake Hausler ’22 answered correctly with “Qatar,” making him the winner and eligible for advancement in the competition. Ian Ellinwood ’22 finished in 2nd place.
