The Presentation Room in Olson Hall was standing-room-only for the first Parents Association coffee of the year. Guests crowded in to hear from PA President Nela Navarrine, Assistant Head of School Brian Thomas, Director of the MICDS Fund Allison Light and new Head of School Jay Rainey. Guests were welcomed and thanked for their participation as volunteers and parents. Ms. Navarrine recognized PA leaders and showed a brief video highlighting several MICDS volunteers who talked about the work they do and invited others to join them. Mr. Thomas offered insight into the School’s reaccreditation process, and Ms. Light shared a personal story that highlights why it’s important for all of us to support the MICDS Fund with whatever makes us comfortable. Mr. Rainey’s remarks mirrored what he spoke about during a faculty assembly before school began a few weeks ago, and he encouraged parents to embrace what makes us unique as a School community. Parents enjoyed time to connect with each other before and after the program, meeting old friends and making new ones, learning about volunteer opportunities and chatting with Mr. Rainey.
Mark your calendars for the Parents Association Holiday Luncheon on Friday, December 6 at 12 p.m.
