Dear Middle School Parents,
My name is Jody A. Marberry, and I serve as faculty member of the Middle School math department. Just as we are encouraging our students to be lifelong learners, I too am dedicated to continuing my learning. I am currently an Ed.D. student at Lindenwood University where I am pursuing my doctorate in instructional leadership.
At this point in my studies, I am collecting data for my dissertation study called, “A Mixed-Methods Study of Middle School Students’ Perceptions of Teacher Feedback and its Effects on Metacognition and Motivation.” The study’s purpose is to explore middle school students’ perceptions of teacher feedback; teacher perceptions of the same feedback; and the similarity/difference between the two. The study will use data provided by current MICDS students and faculty.
I need your help! Beginning the week of September 24th your child will be asked to participate in a survey and follow up focus group to measure student perceptions of teacher feedback. In order for your child to participate, I need parental permission. An in-depth explanation of the project and your child’s participation can be found on the MICDS portal, and a banner will come across the top of your portal page once you have signed in. By attaching your electronic signature to the form, you give your child permission to participate in my research project.
