Passport Series Pours into 10th Year with Tea Tasting Event

By Sara Gilbert (P ’26,’29), Passport Series Co-chair

The MICDS Passport Series started their 10th year strong with « Tea Tasting From Around the World » as their first event for 2024-25. Volunteers representing Australia, Hong Kong, India, Lebanon, England/Ireland, China, Taiwan, the U.S., and Vietnam filled the Olson Presentation Room with sights and smells that brought our MICDS parent/guardian community together. Each station had a sampling of beverages and snacks for the attendees to try and learn about authentic customs related to diverse tea cultures found around the globe. The gathering provided opportunities to not only learn about other cultures but also a chance to meet and mingle with other parents in a relaxed setting full of friendly faces.

The Passport Series continues to provide a unique opportunity amongst the regional independent schools for parents to share in each other’s diverse and beautiful backgrounds. Don’t miss our next event, the Diwali celebration on Friday, October 25!

Many thanks to all of our MICDS parent/guardian volunteers who came out to generously share their time and tea traditions with our community: Annie Sloane P’20, ’25, Debbie Hill P’26, ’28, ’31, 32, Neill & Kelly Wright P’25, ’27, ’29, Yen Jan P’22, ’25, ’31, Rashmika Patel P’24, ’29, Lara Doumit P’25, ’27, Carla Geha P’25, ’26, ’28, Leena Choudharry P’21, ’25, Irene Li and Stephen Yin P’31, Wen Huang P’25, Sara Gilbert P’26, ’29, and Jen Hogan P’26, ’28!
