Beasley students dove into some different material this week. Fourth graders spent the first part of each day in the swimming pool at the Steward Family Aquatic Center. MICDS started the Lower School “Swim Week” in 2017 to help young swimmers learn valuable, life-long water safety lessons.
Khannie Dastgah, Director of Aquatics and Facilities, partners with Lower School PE Teachers Sue Orlando and Jim Lohr to ensure students are successful in the water regardless of how much swimming experience they may have. Students come to the program with different skill levels and swim knowledge, and as the week goes on their confidence grows.
In addition to developing water survival skills and basic stroke techniques, students improve their health and fitness while having a lot of fun!
Great job, Rams!
