Spring Choir Concerts Entertain While Giving Back

Spring Pops Give Back to Those in Need

The MICDS Chamber Choir performed the 80’s hit song Africa by Toto, among others during the 2018 Spring Pops Concert on April 26 & 27. With this song specifically, the choir wanted to bring attention to the water crisis in Africa and partnered with ShoeCrew Water Projects to provide funding for water points in developing countries.

In addition to collecting financial donations at each concert, the choirs brought in gently used shoes to donate to ShoeCrew. ShoeCrew works with exporters who purchase the shoes in bulk, thus creating the funds to support water projects. Plus, they are able to keep about 25 tons of shoes out of our local landfills, protecting our own water sources. ShoeCrew also distributes shoes back into our local community through partnerships with other non-profits.

On Wednesday, May 23, ShoeCrew Water Projects will be opening an interactive exhibit center at Chesterfield Mall called The Story of the Thirsty. The exhibit will be open from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on the Dillards Wing Lower Level.
