Charger the Ram Voted the Best Mascot in the World*

Students across the globe voted on the mascot they think best shows school spirit, and Charger the Ram won by a landslide! Charger is known for encouraging MICDS Rams to show their spirit, and can often be seen at School functions such as Homecoming and other athletic events. He’s also our favorite admissions Rambassador, encouraging prospective families to check out our amazing school. And did you know he is a published author? He has his own coloring book! Charger has also hit the silver screen, starring in a variety of School videos. What an amazing mascot!

Middle School Money Madness for Ukraine

Out of the Eighth Grade Community Service Student Interest Group came a recent Middle School donation drive to raise money to support Ukraine. The drive, led by Carrie Clennan ’26 and Sophia Fischer ’26, included a game element where the Middle School grades competed to collect the most money (eighth vs. seventh vs. fifth and sixth grade combined). Students donated coins and dollar bills to their respective grade’s collection bucket.

The total amount collected was $1,375 with eighth grade raising the most money, $636.26. The money went to UNICEF which promised to match donations, which means that $2,750 total was donated. Thank you, Middle Schoolers, for your generous donations, and congratulations, eighth grade!

Mock Trial Coach Honored as Attorney Coach of the Year

On Saturday, March 26, the attorney who coaches the MICDS Mock Trial team, Rebecca Nickelson, was recognized as Attorney Coach of the Year. Nickelson, a partner at Sinars Slowikowski Tomaska LLC, has coached MICDS Upper School students for more than two decades. The Bar Association of St. Louis manages and offers the High School Mock Trial program in St. Louis and across the state. Each year, teams of MICDS students compete in at least two rounds of trial. This year, our teams advanced to regionals in mid-March. Rebecca provides legal consultations for the team, which is also led by Upper School faculty Dr. Tanya Roth and Jason Asher. Aanya Tiwari ’23, who has been a part of Mock Trial for three seasons, presented the award and spoke in Rebecca’s honor. “I was beyond honored to be able to speak about my coach and present her the ‘Coach of the Year’ award at the St. Charles County Courthouse on March 26,” shared Aanya. “From the start, she has been the anchor of the MICDS Mock Trial Program and is responsible for all its success. My team and I warmly congratulate her and look forward to more memorable seasons with our Mock Trial mom! I rest my case.” Congratulations, Coach!
