Jack Bay

Senior Soars as Eagle Scout and Rifle Shooter

Senior Jack Bay ’20 earned his Eagle Scout and his first palm during his junior year. According to his parents, « This means that he went above and beyond in earning the basic required number of merit badges for the Eagle Rank. » For his Eagle Scout project, Jack did construction work for the Endangered Wolf Center.
Jack was also named to the 2019 Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation All-Scholastic Team which is a national award and qualifies him for scholarship opportunities. This is only his second year on the shooting team. Last year, his first year at the two national tournaments, he shot 182/200 and 193/200. Reflecting on this achievement, Jack shares, « The program has taught me to have confidence in my ability to improve. I now better understand that though it may seem slow, tangible progress will almost always be made with enough work. I’ve been able to put this into practice in many facets of my life, including academics, athletics and personal goals, and it’s allowed me to see more success in many of my endeavors. »
The All-Scholastic Team recognizes the top student-athletes in the SSSF’s Scholastic Clay Target and Scholastic Action Shooting Program for their achievements in the classroom, on the range and in their communities. Through an application process, 2019 All-Scholastic Team Members have proven academic excellence by posting 3.0 or better grade point averages, shooting excellent scores in recent competition (95% in trap or skeet, 85% in sporting clays, 88% in international trap/skeet or 75 seconds or less for SASP) and by demonstrating outstanding community involvement. There are 230 athletes from 24 states on his team. Check out his feature on page 44 here.
Way to go, Jack!

Morgan Highlighted as Outstanding Local Teacher

On pages 16 and 17 of a recent edition of Town and Style, our very own Stacey Morgan, Head Athletic Trainer and Upper School Science Teacher, was featured as an Outstanding Local Teacher. The article focuses on Ms. Morgan’s kinesiology class and how students are building robotic hands that are sent to e-NABLE, an organization that provides free prosthetic limbs to people in need. Morgan also teaches sports medicine, anatomy and physiology, and she earned 2nd place in the spring for the Saint Louis Science Center’s Loeb Prize for Excellence in Teaching Science and Mathematics.
