This week, we were grateful to have the Ladue Fire Department return to Beasley to resume their annual visit to the Lower School. October is Fire Prevention Month, and this visit sparks learning about fire safety awareness for our youngest Rams.
Students from Junior Kindergarten through fourth grade met by class outside the Beasley Dining Hall to learn from the firefighters and their big red truck. They got a tour of a fire truck and an ambulance, and they learned all about the emergency response equipment and gadgets.
The firefighters shared what it’s like to work in response to fires. They also answered all of the burning questions that students had. In the middle of their time at Beasley, the fire department was called into action to respond to a local call, but they were able to return to finish meeting with students. How exciting to hear the sirens and see the flashing lights as they dashed off to help!
Typically, this visit culminates with the firefighters eating lunch with Lower Schoolers, but due the pandemic, they grabbed lunches to take with them. Chef Rodrigo and Assistant Director of Dining Services Joy packed up cheeseburgers, green beans, sweet potato fries, and chocolate chip cookies that were sent out in to-go containers.
Thank you, Ladue Fire Department, for taking the time to teach our students about the importance of fire safety!
