Carter Enyard '24 Commits to Kent State
Congratulations to Carter Enyard ’24 on his recent commitment to the football program at Kent State University. The Golden Flashes are gaining a talented student-athlete! Carter was also recently named the #14 recruit on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch “Super 30 Countdown” of the area’s top senior football prospects. Ellie Lochhead '24 Commits to DePauw
Congratulations are in order for Ellie Lochhead ’24 for her recent commitment to DePauw University. Ellie has been a member of Gateway Field Hockey since the age of six and is a four-year member of the MICDS Field Hockey team, where she has earned All-Metro League accolades. We can’t wait to see you succeed at DePauw!
Davis Schukar '24 Lands #12 in Super 30 Football Players
Davis Schukar ’24 was recently named the #12 recruit on the St. Louis Post-Dispatch “Super 30 Countdown” of the area’s top senior football prospects. He was named to the list for his versatility on the offensive line and for being one of the area’s top left tackles. Way to shine, Davis! Read more about Davis here.
Samruddh Singh '24 Participates in Foundation for Strengthening Families Event
Samruddh Singh ’24 participated in a luncheon this summer for the Foundation for Strengthening Families to support the launch of the Good Shepherd Academy for Boys in north St. Louis. The early childhood center will be the first gender-based program focused solely on the needs of Black and Brown males. Samruddh joined educators and community members to learn more about the issues among these young children and engaged in a conversation about action steps to take. Keep up the excellent work, Samruddh!
Hans Kamat '24 and Evan Kamat '25 Win Young Entrepreneur Award
Earlier this month, Hans ’24 and Evan Kamat ’25 won the 2023 Missouri After School Network (MASN) Young Entrepreneur Pitch Challenge for their consumer product, The Benchwarmer. The Benchwarmer is a portable, USB battery-operated, heated sports bench cushion for sports teams and enthusiasts. The Missouri State contest grand prize winnings included: a $600 gift card, consultation with a successful entrepreneur, and a scholarship to the VentureLab SPARK program (valued at $2,000).
Top finishers in Missouri were then entered into the national Youth Entrepreneur Institute contest. The Kamat brothers followed their third-place finish internationally earlier this year at the University of Delaware’s prestigious Diamond Challenge entrepreneurship contest by being named one of three Grand Prize winners in the Youth Entrepreneur Institute National Pitch Challenge. Chosen out of hundreds of entries across the US, the final pitches can be seen here. Each winner received a $350 cash prize. Congratulations, Hans and Evan!
MICDS Students Perform at the Muny
Congrats to Ben Iken ’24, Thomas Woodrow ’24, and Ellemieke Ferguson ’27, who are members of The Muny Kids and Muny Teen Ensemble and performed in several shows over the summer. New alum Noah Macam ’23 also performed. Bravo and Brava to all!
Jacob Genin '26 Attends Summer STEM Academy
This summer, Jacob Genin ’26 attended a weeklong STEM academy at Princeton University run by a national organization, Asian American Academy of Science and Engineering (AAASE), that brought in scientific and research leaders from around the country to speak with students interested in the STEM field. Jacob shared, “The week was full of motivational speakers across a number of STEM-related fields. A highlight was asking questions to Major General Charles Bolden, the former administrator of NASA. The week culminated with a design project, with a $2,000 prize that I…did not win. But I made lasting friendships, learned about some new topics, and left with an appreciation for what professors and scientific leaders can do with their careers. I recommend this to others!” Congrats on a fun summer of STEM, Jacob! We can’t wait to see what you do next.
Justin Bishop '27 Named Top Midfielder & Man of the Year
Congratulations to Justin Bishop ’27 on being named by Project Missouri Lacrosse’s partnership with The Circuit, powered by Nike, as the top midfielder in the country for his class and on winning the National Man of the Year award! In May, he was also named by The Circuit as a 2027 All-American with some of the best players in the country. The future is bright for this young student-athlete. Way to go, Justin!
Gio Bucci '28 Recognized as Most Valuable Swimmer
Congratulations to Gio Bucci ’28 on being recognized as the Most Valuable Swimmer in the All Country Club League, swimming for Forest Hills Country Club, scoring high points at conference finals in the 13-14 Boys age group. Well done, Gio!
Asher Woodward '28 Active in Summer Theater
Asher Woodward ’28 enjoyed a summer immersed in the performing arts! He was an offstage singer in Chess at the Muny and played Young Charlie in Kinky Boots at the Grandel with The Tesseract Theatre Company. Asher enjoyed sharing the Chess stage with Broadway stars Jessica Vosk, John Riddle, and schoolmate Ben Iken ’24. Bravo, Asher!
Sal B. '32 Earns Black Belt
Congratulations to fourth-grader Sal B. ’32 for earning his First Degree Black Belt from Taekwondo. He started Taekwondo when he was four years old, and he shared that it took him six years of hard work and dedication to earn the award at this prestigious level. Aim high, Sal!
HOSA Places in Top Spots at International Conference
Earlier this summer, the MICDS HOSA team of future health professionals had a spectacular showing at the International Leadership Conference in Dallas, Texas. The days were filled with the MICDS teams advancing to various competitions at multiple levels. Congratulations to our Parliamentary Procedure Team on landing the #2 ranking globally, our Creative Problem-Solving team for placing in the top ten internationally, and to Saivi Gadi ’25 on winning bronze for the Barbara James Service Award! Congratulations, Rams!

Changa Bey Named to Teacher Advisory Board
Congratulations to Upper School History Teacher Changa Bey on being named to the National Humanities Center’s Teacher Advisory Board. The board’s work includes connecting educators to provide relevant perspectives in developing, evaluating, and promoting the Center’s educational materials and projects. Dr. Fred Bouchard Inducted into Kansas City Coaches Hall of Fame
Congratulations to Varsity Football Head Coach Dr. Fred Bouchard for being inducted into the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame! In addition, Coach Bouchard appeared on two podcasts this summer, sharing notes about his coaching history and the upcoming season. Check them out here and here. Dr. Earl Macam Named to College Counselor Advisory Board
MICDS College Counselor Dr. Earl Macam is one of 26 education professionals chosen by the Princeton Review® to serve on its 2023-24 National College Counselor Advisory Board. Known for its test-prep, tutoring, and admission services—as well as its books and school rankings—The Princeton Review created its National College Counselor Advisory Board in 2008 to provide feedback on the company’s editorial projects and services for college-bound students. The board comprises individuals from 13 states and Canada representing both public and private high school college advisors and independent college admission consultants. Macam shared, “My hope is that all of us in this profession continue to assist and guide our students and their families as they navigate the ever-changing landscape of the college search and admissions process. Our work makes a world of difference to every person we work with!”
Dr. Tanya Roth Moderates Book Event
This summer, Upper School History Teacher Dr. Tanya Roth moderated a conversation at Left Bank Books with CDS alum Landon Jones ’62 about his most recent book release, Celebrity Nation. Roth shared, “His book is excellent—a great, easy-to-read examination of the importance of celebrity in American life and culture. You also learn more about how his time at People magazine shaped magazine journalism and about Lanny’s professional background as a journalist (His first interview ever was with Malcolm X when Lanny was at Princeton!). It was a great, engaging experience, and Lanny is a wonderful person to talk to.” Also, Roth was interviewed by The New Yorker on the topic of military uniforms and undergarments for women.
