In early August, Anjali Pante ’17, Sruthi Sripada ’18, Erin Hamill (Director of Global Learning and US Community Service) and Chris Militello (MS History) spent the morning at the Nahed Chapman New American Academy, a transitional school within the St. Louis Public School system that serves refugees and immigrants who have recently arrived in St. Louis. They were volunteers for the Academy’s Back-to-School day and report how rewarding it was to interact with the children and parents from so many countries around the world who now call St. Louis home and want to integrate and assimilate into American society.
MICDS plans to partner with the N.C New American Academy this year and for years to come.
