Junior Places in Top 10 at Brain Bee

Congratulations to Andy Zheng ’26 who placed as a top 10 finalist in the St. Louis Area’s Brain Bee. Zheng was one of 55 high school students who put his knowledge of the human brain to the test at the 15th annual Brain Bee on March 8 at Washington University in St. Louis. At the Bee, he also conducted experiments and explored careers with local neuroscientists at the event. Way to go, Andy!

Two Rams Make it to Top 150 Field Hockey Player Rankings for Class of 2027

Ellemieke Ferguson ’27 (Top 100 player) and Mallory Jerlecki ’27 (Top 150 player) were named by Max Field Hockey in the Top 150 player rankings for the Class of 2027. They are invited to the National Player Invitational which will be held in June. Way to go, Ellemieke and Mallory!

Both Basketball Teams Win Districts, Girls Advance to Quarterfinals this Saturday

The MICDS Varsity Girls Basketball team took the district crown by beating STEAM Academy 64-48. Then, the team won over Vashon, 59-13 at Class 4 Sectionals. They advance to the Class 4 Quarterfinals on Saturday at 1 p.m. at MICDS. Go Rams!

The MICDS Varsity Boys Basketball team defeated UCity 51-34 to win the Class 4 District 6 Championship. Check out this summary by STL Today which highlights this being the third district victory of the Rams in the past four years. It also highlights Brandon Clemens ’26 and Jason Stokes’ ’26 combined score of 31 points.

Faculty Feature: Dr. Earl Macam Presents at Equity & Innovation Summit

At the “Equity & Innovation Summit – Grounded in Change: Building Resilience in Uncertain Times,” Upper School College Counselor Dr. Earl Macam delivered a presentation entitled, “Counseling Asian American Students in Independent Schools.” He shared, “The past three school years, I have taught in the faculty and staff Cultural Competency curriculum. My class is called ‘The Asian American Student Experience in our Community.'” Dr. Macam shared some of the insights that he’s gained through teaching this course over the past few years. The presentation was a mix of presenting and open conversation among those who attended.
