Ji Makes All-Metro First Team
Eric Ji ’21 is recognized by STL Today for making the 2020 All-Metro boys swimming and diving first team. He earned one first place and three second place medals at the state meet. Way to go, Eric!
Senior Standout on "Town and Style" for Making a Difference
In its own version of Student Standouts, Town and Style interviews and highlights Aryan Motwani ’21 for founding Ace Academy to teach students life lessons through tennis and for working on the Hudlin Legacy Project. For the Hudlin Legacy Project, Aryan is instrumental in working to restore the tennis courts in Hudlin Park and honor its namesake, Richard Hudlin. Senior Guard in the Spotlight
Sam Wienstroer ’21 is featured for his contributions to the Boys Basketball team in this STL High School Sports article. Although he isn’t as tall as some of his teammates, he is highlighted for running the Rams offense as a senior guard. On Tuesday, the Rams won against SLUH, 57-50, for the first time in the past eight games against one another. Wienstroer earned 14 points and four assists in the game.
Naber Dubbed All-Metro Boys Swimmer of the Year
This was the first season on the boys swimming team for Lee Naber ’22, and he was dubbed on Thursday as the Post-Dispatch All-Metro boys swimmer of the year as showcased by STL Today. He helped MICDS rise to a second-place finish at the Class 1 state championships, our best performance since earning 4th in 2001. His performance earned three first-place finishes and one second-place finish. He also set a number of records for MICDS boys swimming. Way to go, Lee!
Ray Makes All-Metro First Team
Julia Ray ’23 is in the news again for earning a spot on the 2020 All-Metro Girls Cross Country First Team! She earned six individual championships this season and finished fourth in the Class 5 state meet. Her fastest time this season was 18:16:21 for a 5K. Read more here.
Soccer Players Highlighted in Article
West Newsmagazine highlights Alexander Birkel ’21 in an article this week about how Birkel helped the MICDS Boys Soccer team earn their first State Championship ever! He scored the game-winning and only goal after an assist by Walter Ralph ’21. Birkel played as a forward and was a three-year starter for the team. He earned First-Team All-District honors and finished with 33 goals and 16 assists for our School. Goalie James Hammersmith ’21 is also mentioned for helping keep the Orchard Farm opponents at 0 points. Other teammates are also highlighted as is Head Coach Jack Fischer who is quoted several times in the article about how the season unfolded and what this victory means.
