Four Students Recognized in the U.S.A. Biology Olympiad

Out of nearly 5,000 students across the country that took the U.S.A. Biology Olympiad (USABO) test, four MICDS students were recognized for their performance. According to their website, “The mission of the USABO is to identify, inspire, empower, and support the next generation of life science leaders and to develop their international network.” Honorable Mention went to Alexa Doumit ’25 and Macy Lubak ’25. One step higher was the Certificate of Merit which went to Diya Makkapati ’25 and Jason Song ’25. Congratulations, Rams!

Eighth Grader Selected to Attend a U.S. Soccer Girls Talent ID Session

Audrey Walker ’28 was selected by the U.S. Soccer Federation to attend a U.S. Soccer Girls Talent ID session on Wednesday, May 1 in Lockport, Illinois. U.S. Soccer Talent ID Centers (IDCs) are player identification opportunities for top talents to train and play games under the direction of the U.S. Soccer Talent Identification Managers. IDCs are designed to identify and evaluate top talents for Youth National Teams. Way to go, Audrey!

Boys Golf Takes 2nd at Conference Tournament & Gelven Advances to State

MICDS placed second in the Metro League Tournament this week. Congratulations to Ben Gelven ’25, Jack Wienstroer ’25, Abhi Patel ’24, and Chase Segal ’27 who placed in the top 10 with a 74 from Ben, 77 from Abhi, and a 78 from Chase!

Continuing the great week, Ben shot a 73 at Districts to take 5th place overall and is officially advancing to State!
