New Javelin Throw Record Set
At the Marion Freeman Track & Field Invitational, Cole Gipson ’23 broke the school record in the Javelin with a throw of 44.06m, which beats the previous record from 2021, which was a throw of 43.30m thrown by Deshawn Sutton ’21. Way to throw, Cole!
Three Rams Honored by National Football Foundation
Three MICDS seniors were honored by the National Football Foundation/St. Louis Tom Lombardo Chapter at its 32nd annual Awards Banquet held at the historic downtown Missouri Athletic Club on April 30. Congratulations to Steve Hall ’23 and Nate Schuckman ’23 who both received the highly-selective 2023 Elite-Eleven Student-Athlete Award for their outstanding academic work along with their excellent performance on the field! Congratulations to Winston Moore ’23, who was recognized as one of the Top 25 Big Red Award winners for being one of the top 25 football players in the city!
In his bio from the program, Hall is featured for becoming the MICDS all-time career leader in rushing yards and points scored, earning numerous football honors, performing strongly in academics, and being involved in leading and mentoring peers and football players. Read Hall’s bio here.
Also from the program, Schuckman is highlighted for his football and track & field accolades and his 4.0-grade point average. He also has been a Middle School tutor, a camp counselor for youth football, and a student who prospective students shadow as they visit MICDS. Read Schuckman’s bio here.
The National Football Foundation’s mission is to “promote and develop the power of amateur football in developing the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, competitive zeal and the drive for academic excellence in America’s young people.” Way to go, Steve, Nate, and Winston! Go Rams!
Boys Golf Swings to 2nd at the Metro League Tournament
Boys Golf competed in the Metro League Tournament on Tuesday, May 2. Our Rams took 2nd in league action with medalists Benjamin Gelven ’25 in 2nd overall with a score of 77 and Richard Sabalvaro ’24 in 9th overall with a score of 85.
