Boys Swimming and Diving Ready to Splash into Postseason with New Coach
The Boys Swimming and Diving Team is heading into postseason competition at the annual MICDS Invitational this Friday, November 1, for the end-of-season championship meet. The District Diving Competition will take place November 8 and 9, and the MSHSAA Class 2 State Meet will be at the Rec-Plex on November 14 and 15. The Rams hold a winning record on their season, 5-4, with notable victories over rival John Burroughs 93-89 and Parkway South 110-73.
This season, the team has been led by our new Head Varsity Boys Swimming and Diving Coach Amy Fulton. Coach Fulton is new to the St. Louis area as of this past spring, having grown up in Denver, Colorado and having lived in Iowa City, Iowa for the last eight years. She swam collegiately at the University of Iowa from 2016-2020 and has six years of club coaching experience with the Iowa Flyers Swim Club. As a high school swimmer in Colorado, Amy was an eight-time state champion and three-time All-American swimmer in the butterfly and freestyle events, earning a scholarship to swim for the Hawkeyes. At Iowa, Amy was a two-year captain and three-time Big Ten Conference Distinguished Scholar Athlete, swimming a pair of all-time Top 10 times in the 100 and 200 butterfly events for the program. As the Iowa Flyers Swim Club Head Age Group Coach, Coach Fulton coached over 30 individual state champions, led as Team Iowa’s Head Coach to regional and zone championships, and administered and managed her program of 250 athletes and 20 coaches.
Upon joining MICDS, Coach Fulton shared „MICDS feels like just the right place at the right time in my coaching journey. I’m so impressed by the drive and passion of these student-athletes for their work in the pool and the classroom. It’s a privilege to come alongside them in their successes and curate an environment of leadership, excellence, and growth in all they do. Swimming, and all sports for that manner, is such a unique avenue to be challenged and develop critical life skills of resilience, persistence, hard-work, and working with a team. My goal is that each MICDS swimmer and diver experiences growth in these areas in their season and beyond!“
We’re thrilled to have you, Coach Fulton! Let’s go, Rams!
