MICDS Technology Services is announcing an offer to parents of MICDS students in grades 7 through 12 who are interested in monitoring internet activity and applying a customized internet filter on their child’s TabletPC.
The School’s campus internet filter includes an option for parents to create a customized web filter for their child’s TabletPC that is automatically activated when the student leaves the MICDS network.
Features of the « off-campus student web filter » include:
- Access logs for monitoring your child’s internet usage
- Create and customize your own internet filter rules
- On-demand and scheduled internet usage reports
- Access your self-configured filter rules from any web browser
- Limit internet access by time-of-day, categories, and individual sites
- Your defined filter rules apply to all off-campus internet access from your child’s TabletPC
If you are interested in applying this optional web filter to your child’s TabletPC, we invite you to attend one of two upcoming workshops scheduled for Wednesday, October 27 from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. in the Olson Hall Presentation Room or Thursday, October 28 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. in the Olson Hall Presentation Room. During the workshop, you will learn about how the off-campus web filter works, how to configure it, and how to manage it. Upon registration for the workshop, we will set up a web filter account for you. If activated by you after the workshop, the initial web filter policy for your child’s TabletPC for off-campus internet access will be the same as the School’s policy for on-campus internet access. You will learn how to modify the policy at the workshop.
This workshop requires advance registration. Please select one of the two available dates and complete your registration online:
Wednesday, October 27, 9:00-10:00 a.m.
Thursday, October 28, 5:00-6:00 p.m.
If you are interested in the off-campus web filter, but cannot attend the workshop, please email Dave Candelario, Director of Technology at dcandelario@micds.org
