The Raineys Host Students for Food and Fellowship

At the end of last week, students were given the opportunity to visit with Head of School Jay Rainey, his wife Ruth and their dog Silas at the Head of School’s residence for a pancake breakfast.

Sporting a chef’s hat and apron while wielding his spatula – all gifted to the Raineys at the year’s first all-school assembly – Mr. Rainey made pancakes for the students while getting to know each student a bit better. The group enjoyed their meal on the residence’s back patio.

This breakfast was the first of several, and was Mr. Rainey’s idea to help him and Mrs. Rainey get to know students as well as build fellowship and community while creating an open-door atmosphere. The next breakfast will be October 6.

The evening before, the Raineys hosted Coach Jim Lohr and the Girls Cross Country team for watermelon and cake to celebrate Coach Lohr’s induction into the Missouri Track & Cross Country Coaches Association Hall of Fame. The captains of the Cross Country team brought the cake for Coach Lohr and asked the Raineys to host the celebration, to which they happily agreed!

Mr. and Mrs. Rainey – and Silas, too – are looking forward to hosting more student-centered events at the Head of School Residence.
