While brushing up on their persuasive opinion writing skills, 3rd Graders wrote letters and speeches to a variety of audiences including teachers, administrators, parents and major companies trying to convince them of a variety of things. Earlier this month a few students invited Mrs. McMillion into their room to hear a speech on why 3rd Graders feel they would benefit from lines painted on the basketball court. After providing some very convincing reasons, the idea was approved to move forward, and the students helped Ms. Orlando mark out lines with chalk to decide where the paint should go. By the beginning of next year, students will be able to enjoy newly painted lines on the basketball court, all thanks to a bit of persuasion!
“It is great for students to see their ideas turn into action that creates change,” exclaimed 3rd Grade Teacher Aubrey Schmoll.
