Track Athletes Honored at Records Ceremony

MICDS students who set new school records in track and field this spring gathered in McDonnell Athletic Center on August 15 to celebrate their achievements. Each athlete posted their record on the Track & Field school records board located at the north entrance to the MAC.

Amos Bartelsmeyer ’13 leaves MICDS with five school records, in the 400m, 800m, 1600m, 3200m and 4×800 relay. His record in the 3200m set both a new school and Clayton Invitational Meet record. “When I first arrived at MICDS, I didn’t expect track to be such a huge part of my experience. I’m so thankful to my coaches who turned me into a great runner,” he said. “I am fortunate that I accomplished what I wanted as an athlete, and hope that my records will inspire future runners to do great things.” Amos is headed to Georgetown University, where he will also run track.

The 4×400 relay team of Pamima Ekpelu ’13, Geneva Lee ’16, CeCe Moore ’13 and Julia Olson ’13 won the State Championship and broke their previous school record. “It’s a good feeling to leave MICDS with this accomplishment,” said Julia Olson.

Track and Field Coaches Jim Lohr, Paul Reinke and Paul Zahller were on hand to congratulate the athletes.
