Bonnie Sneider ’21, editor-in-chief of The Voice, the Upper School student newspaper at MICDS, distributed this year’s first issue shortly before the Thanksgiving break. She wrote, «I hope this email finds you happy and well. The Voice, our Upper School student newspaper, is excited to send you all our first issue of the 2020-2021 school year! As you head into the exciting (and well deserved) week off ahead, The Voice wants to be a source for reading, thinking, and, of course, smiling. Considering that (virtual) connection is key during this time of heightened isolation, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the writers if you would like to discuss something that interested you. We would love to hear from you. Have a great Thanksgiving and enjoy!»
Sneider didn’t know what to expect as she prepared for the first meeting. She said, «When the school year started, I was worried about what the interest in The Voice would be like since our meetings would be held virtually. Fortunately, the waiting room in Zoom kept on sounding the ‘virtual doorbell,’ and the meeting was bustling before I knew it. Everyone on the team has been so eager to attend meetings and share their ideas. I am excited and grateful to have the opportunity to continue working with people who are passionate not only about writing, but also connecting and having fun conversations!»
