Volunteer Efforts are Off and Running at Dewey School in Dogtown

The MICDS community has really stepped up to the plate with their generosity and enthusiasm for the new Dewey International Studies School parntership program. MICDS parents supported Dewey School faculty and staff during their long conference days with batches of homemade goodies. Thank you to all of the bakers, and to Peggy Krainik for coordinating the effort. If you are interested in baking for future faculty appreciation events for Dewey School, please contact Deweypartnership@micds.org.

The 14 French exchange students who are currently visiting MICDS took time on Tuesday to talk about life in France with the students at Dewey International Studies School. The Dewey students asked about everything from music to sports, but the most popular topic was definitely food. The exchange students enjoyed talking about their lives, and then they enjoyed a lunch of St. Louis favorites – toasted ravioli and Imo’s pizza!

Fourteen parents have already signed up to tutor a total of 28 Dewey students, and this program is just getting started! If you have an hour a week to spare and would like to help deserving children, consider being a tutor for students at Dewey, located in the Dogtown neighborhood. A training session will be held on October 26 from 11:00-12:30. If you are interested in attending or learning more, please contact Deweypartnership@micds.org.
